The LD TCU is installed, but Ground Traffic Control is not receiving any path data.
Possible reasons:
- The asset was not created in Ground Traffic Control before installation, and the data is instead showing on an auto-created asset.
- During installation, the vehicle engine turned off or the vehicle moved before both LEDs turned solid.
- The vehicle was not driven after both LEDs turned solid.
- The vehicle is 2007 or older and is not compatible with the LD TCU.
Performing a soft reboot as described in the LD TCU Manual should alleviate any data issues not resulting from incompatibility.
If the device was installed more than 7 days ago, perform a hard reboot instead.
Ground Traffic Control is missing certain data immediately after installation.
When the LD TCU is installed, it must download and process software updates which may interfere with data collection. Data after 24 hours should be correct.
The IMEI/GPS ID on the device is not present in Ground Traffic Control.
The label on the device may include a leading 0 in the IMEI (for example, 016042000001911) that is not present in the same ID in Ground Traffic Control (for example, 16042000001911). When searching for the ID, make sure to drop the leading 0.
When exporting the path report to CSV, the listed source sometimes flips between "GPS" and "ECM".
The GPS and ECM flags were designed with Zonar's Vx family of GPS units in mind. The LD TCU operates slightly differently, resulting in the different values.
- ECM: Occurs when the LD TCU is sending ECM-specific data. This only occurs when the vehicle is idling.
- GPS: Occurs when the LD TCU is sending GPS data while in motion.
For analytical purposes, if the ECM flag is present at all in the CSV export, the odometer values in Ground Traffic Control are considered to be derived from the ECM.
The Phone Home date is much older than active GPS data in Ground Traffic Control, which is unusual compared to V3s and V4s.
The LD TCU device sends a phone home heartbeat every two (2) hours only when:
- The engine is off.
- The vehicle battery voltage is 12.0V or higher.
Depending on the vehicle's use conditions, this may result in an older than expected phone home timestamp.
The data looks unusual and it has been more than 24 hours since installation.
There is a very rare chance for data to be inserted in Ground Traffic Control out of order. Zonar is actively engaged in minimizing and eliminating this chance.
The device was working, but is no longer sending data, or is sending unusual data.
Perform a soft reboot as described in the LD TCU Manual.
A soft reboot did not correct the issues I'm experiencing.
Perform a hard reboot as described in the LD TCU Manual.
I need to switch the device to a different vehicle.
Perform a hard reboot as described in the LD TCU Manual.
The green LED is not lit.
The green LED indicates cellular connectivity.
Possible causes of failure to light include:
- The vehicle's engine has just turned on. Allow up to 5 minutes for LED to light up.
- The vehicle is inside a metal, concrete, or underground structure which is preventing a cell signal. Move the vehicle outside.
- The vehicle is in an area with poor cellular coverage. Move the vehicle to an area with known good coverage.
The blue LED is not lit.
The blue LED indicates power status. Possible causes include:
- The vehicle's engine is not turned on. The blue LED should begin blinking when the engine is turned on.
- The TCU is not fully connected. Follow the Installation instructions to ensure a proper connection.
The blue LED is blinking when the engine is turned on.
The blinking blue LED status indicates GPS configuration. Possible causes include:
- The vehicle's engine has just turned on. Allow up to 5 minutes for LED to turn solid.
- The TCU is incompatible with the vehicle. The TCU is only supported for vehicles of model year 2008 and newer.
- The device is no longer bound. Follow the hard reboot steps to correctly bind the device to the vehicle.
My Ford vehicle is experiencing FordPass® functionality issues.
In some cases, LD TCU may interfere with FordPass® functionality (for example, remote start and remote door unlock may not function while LD TCU is installed). Full functionality is restored when LD TCU is removed. If any required FordPass® features are not working on a specific vehicle, Zonar recommends using a Zonar V4 TCU with 4-pin connector on the specific vehicle.
Using a V4 + 4-pin connector does not provide ECM odometer or DTC functionality.
