Z Pass is a web-based passive RFID card system used for tracking riders. It records card scans and includes time, date, latitude, and longitude with each scan. This system can accommodate trip building, which is used for better cardholder tracking and provides data used in Medicaid billing.
Z Pass Reports allows the export of a searchable CSV file containing all of the completed trips.
To access Z Pass Reports including Rider Trips, from the main menu click Reports, then go to Rider Tracking and click Z Pass Rider Trips.

Note: When running a report, it is only possible to see completed trips that occurred yesterday or prior to yesterday. The trip builder is initiated at the end of each day and processes the previous day’s events for reporting.

Ridership Defined
Ridership is the portion of Z Pass that automates the processes that are required for Federal, State, and Local Agency reporting. These reports can be used for Medicaid billing, help improve safety and increase efficiency.
Z Pass defines a trip as two events matching specific criteria. If an event cannot be paired with another event, it is labeled as an isolated event. These events are not included in the ridership reports until additional information is entered or events are created to match the automatically generated event.
Event Pairing Criteria
The following criteria is used when Z Pass pairs events:
Same Asset |
The start and event are recorded on the same asset and no other asset has a scan from the same cardholder for the duration of the trip. |
Min-Max Trip Distance and Time |
Based on the thresholds in Ground Traffic Control, the minimum time and distance must be reached, but not to exceed the maximum. |
Same Driver |
The driver must be the same for both of the paired events. |
Different Locations |
The location for each event must be geographically different from each other. |
Same Rider/Aide |
Both events must have the same Cardholder RFID number. |
