Driver Logs

1. Application Menu: Tap the icon at top left of screen to access additional features. The menu can also be expanded by dragging your finger across the screen from the left side.
2. Ruleset: The current zone and ruleset you are operating under. Change this under the Application Menu.
3. Current Date View: Displays the date of the log that you are viewing. Swipe left or right on the grid or tap the arrow to the left of the date to access logs from a previous day. Tap on the date to display the previous 14 days.
4. Daily Logs / Summary View: Toggles between the detailed daily driver logs and weekly summary of hours.
5. Distance in Kilometers: Toggles displaying distances in kilometers (km) or miles (mi).
6. Apply SB Split: Toggles use of the split sleeper berth rule for the current day to let ZLogs appropriately calculate your remaining hours.
7. Clock Calculations: Displays calculations or warnings based on the selected ruleset. When you are at risk (within 1 hour) of running out of time on a specific clock, the clock will turn yellow. When you go into violation, it will turn red.

   Not all Canada ELD clocks are shown on the main screen. For a full list, go to the menu and select View HOS Summary at the bottom.

8. Totals: Displays the following totals at a glance:
   • Total Distance: How far you've driven for the day in both Personal Conveyance and Drive status.
   • PC Distance: How far you've driven for the day in Personal Conveyance.
   • Drive Distance: How far you've driven for the day in Drive.
   • Hours Gained: How many hours on your cycle clock you will gain at midnight.
9. Grid View: Grid display for the day selected; the default is the current day.
10. Add Log Event: Allows you to add a duty status change at a specified point. See Driver Log Additions and Edits.

1. Driver Logs: Returns to the ELD application home screen with driver logs displayed.
2. Roadside View™: This is the only place for a driver to display the hours of service (HOS) records that are needed for a roadside stop in the event of an inspection.

   Accessing Roadside View will lock the tablet. The current driver must enter their PIN in order to return to normal tablet functionality.

3. Update Duty Status: Update current duty status. See Changing Duty Status.
4. Change Ruleset / Zone: Switch between one or more rulesets assigned by the motor carrier as needed to properly calculate hours of service. When operating between the U.S. and Canada make sure the proper ruleset is selected in order to populate the correct information for Roadside View. See Changing Duty Status.
5. Update Shipping Info: Add or remove shipping document information, trailer number, or license plate information including jurisdiction. Add or update the power unit number.
6. Apply Driving Exemption: Apply eligible exemptions.
7. Defer Off Duty Time (Canada ELD only): Defer Off Duty time to the next day per CCMTA regulation. See Off Duty Deferral.
8. Accept Unidentified Driving: If ZLogs reports driving logs where the driver is unidentified, tap this button to accept the driving logs.
9. View Unidentified Events: View unidentified driving trips without needing to accept them.
10. Verify Edits: Review dispatcher suggested edits.
11. Certify logs: Certify the current or previous day’s logs.
12. Share Driver Logs: Email a copy of your driver logs to a specified email address.
13. View HOS Summary (Canada ELD only): Displays all relevant Canada ELD clocks.
    
14. ELD Diagnostics: Verify the integrity of the data necessary for compliance from the TCU and vehicle.
15. Custom Comments: Add preset comments to use in note fields.
16. What's New: See what's been added to the most recent release of ZLogs.

The weekly summary, shown on the screen as the length of your work cycle (7, 8, or 14 days), shows the totals of your various clocks for the work cycle, as well as distance traveled, whether in Drive or Personal Conveyance (PC) status.

The summary also allows you to see your daily totals and the hours gained at midnight once the oldest day of the work cycle falls off.

Roadside View is used to present logs during a roadside inspection. It displays the driver, co-driver, power unit, loads and trailers, motor carrier information, and driver logs for the current day and the previous seven days.

Accessing Roadside View

From the Application menu , tap Roadside View. If you have suggested edits or logs to certify, you will receive a prompt: “You have logs to manage.” Tap Manage my logs or Continue to Roadside View.

Once you've certified your logs or continue, the main Roadside View screen appears.

1. Return: Tap to exit Roadside View. You are required to enter your PIN to finish exiting.
2. Ruleset: Displays the current ruleset or cycle.
3. Export: Starts the export of an output file and prompts the driver for the desired transfer. See Exporting Logs.
4. View: If a second driver is logged into the tablet, the co-driver’s logs can be accessed by tapping the “View” icon. The co-driver will be required to enter their PIN to access their logs. This icon is also visible when unidentified drive time is associated to the asset.
5. Date Selection: View the desired date by tapping on the day, or swipe left or right to switch the date being viewed.
6. Log Data: Provides basic info to aid in the inspection. Tap the arrow icon to view more driver and vehicle information. This is the only place to verify all personal, company, and vehicle information. If there is an issue, notify the motor carrier immediately. See Log Data for a complete list of fields.
7. Grid & List View: Displays the current 24-hour period by default, but will display the selected day’s logs in a grid and list view. Scroll down by swiping up on the screen to view all entries.

In Roadside View, tap the down arrow at the top of the grid view to display more information. The log data presents the driver, co-driver, asset, load(s), motor carrier information, and the driver logs for the current and previous seven days.

1. Log Data
   • Truck Tractor ID(s): All vehicle names (as defined in Ground Traffic Control) you have driven during the selected day.
   • Carrier(s): All carriers you have driven for during the selected day.
   • Ruleset(s): All rulesets you have operated under during the selected day.
   • Operating Zone(s): All operating zones you have operated under during the selected day.
2. Driver Info
   • Driver's License: Your driver's license number. This must have been entered in Ground Traffic Control to display here.
   • Driver ID: Your ID used to log into the tablet.
   • Current Location: Your current location as provided by the GPS. If no GPS is available, this field is blank.
   • Co-Driver(s): If any co-drivers are logged into the tablet, their names appear here.
   • Home Terminal Address: Your home terminal as defined in Ground Traffic Control. This may differ from the carrier's headquarters.
3. Vehicle Info
   • Current Engine Hours: The engine hours as provided by the vehicle data. If vehicle data is not available, this field is N/A.
   • Truck Tractor VIN(s): The VINs of all vehicles driven during the selected day. If the VIN is not obtainable from the vehicle, ZLogs will attempt to use the VIN listed in Ground Traffic Control if one exists.

     If the VIN is displayed with a hyphen in front, the VIN provided by the ECU is invalid and ELD is using the manual VIN entered in Ground Traffic Control instead.

   • Trailer ID(s): All trailer IDs you have picked up for the selected day.
4. Carrier Info
   • Principal Place of Business: The location of the carrier's headquarters. This may differ from the driver's home terminal.
5. HOS Info
   • Time Zone: The time zone your logs are kept in. This is defined in your driver profile in Ground Traffic Control.
   • Unidentified Driving: Displays Yes if any unidentified driving events are present on the tablet, otherwise displays No.
   • Exempt Driver Status: Displays Yes if the carrier has designated you as exempt from ELD regulation, otherwise displays No.
   • 24 Hour Start Time: The time of day used in calculating the 24 hour rules in Canada cycles.
   • Current Total Distance: The total distance you've driven for the selected day.
   • Total Distance Driven: The total distance per asset you've driven for the selected day.
   • Off Duty Time Deferral: If you have deferred Off Duty time, this displays the day used in calculating eligibility.
   • Time Deferred: The amount of Off Duty time you have deferred, if any.
6. ELD Info
   • ELD Provider: The name of your ELD provider, which in ZLogs will always display Zonar.
   • ELD ID: The ID of the ELD registered with the CCMTA.
   • ELD Authentication: An authentication code to verify the legitimacy of the ELD with the CCMTA.
   • ELD Certification ID: Certification ID provided by the CCMTA.
   • Data Diagnostic: Displays Yes and the relevant code if a diagnostic is active, otherwise displays No.
   • ELD Malfunction: Displays Yes and the associated vehicles if a malfunction occurred during the selected day, otherwise displays No.

Zonar ELD provides preset alerts to notify drivers when they are nearing or in violation of one or more hours of service rules.

At Risk

"At risk" is considered to be any time within one hour of going into violation. The following occurs when a driver is at risk:

• The clock or clocks that are within one hour of running out turn yellow on the Zonar ELD main screen.
• A notice pops up on screen informing the driver they have a limited amount of time left. This pop up automatically disappears after 30 seconds.

Violation

"Violation" is considered to be any time the driver is in Drive and one or more hours of service rules are not met. The following occurs when a driver is in violation:

• The clock or clocks that have run out turn red on the Zonar ELD main screen.
• A notice pops up on screen informing the driver they are currently in violation. This pop up automatically disappears after 30 seconds.

In order for ELD to be compliant, certain data is needed from the vehicle. This page provides insight into ELD connections to the vehicle and TCU to help identify and troubleshoot missing data.

The page consists of three tabs, each with different data as described below. A Refresh button in the upper right can be tapped to see if there is any updated data from the vehicle.

ELD Required Data Connection Status

This tab only reports whether the ELD is receiving necessary data to be compliant. Each data point reports the following information:

• Data: The name of the data point.
• Value: The current value of the data point, if any.
• Last Updated: The date and time the ELD received the most recent data point from the vehicle.
• Connection Status: Displays green if the ELD is currently receiving connection data from the vehicle, otherwise displays red.

ELD Health Data

This tab displays the history of diagnostics and malfunctions for the vehicle. The history helps diagnose whether or not the ELD has repeated issues with connecting to the vehicle.

• Data: The data point being measured.
• Value: The number of times the described data point has occurred.
• Last Updated: The most recent time the data point has occurred.

ELD Provisioning Data

This page provides deeper technical detail on the connections to the vehicle and TCU. These details can further assist in troubleshooting, typically in conjunction with Zonar Customer Support.

• Data: The data point being measured.
  • ELD: Data received directly from the vehicle's ECM. This data is necessary for compliance.
  • Calculated: Data calculated via TCU internal sensors. This data is non-compliant, but may be useful for troubleshooting.
• Value: The value being reported by the data point. If ELD and Calculated differ significantly, this may be a sign that the ELD is either receiving bad data from the ECM or is not receiving data at all.
• Source Address: The source of the data.
• Databus: The type of source of the data. If ELD and Calculated differ significantly, this may be a sign that the ELD is not receiving data from the current vehicle.
• Connection: Displays green if the ELD is currently receiving connection data from the vehicle, otherwise displays red.

DG/MAL

This page displays which Diagnostic and Malfunction codes are currently active.

• When a code is active, it will be represented with a red checkmark in the Status column.
• When a code is not active, the Status column will be blank.

To view a history of a specific code, tap the entry in the list.

Custom comments are preset messages you can use to quickly fill in notes or annotations on driver log entries. You can have up to five (5) messages available at a time.

For example, you can have a custom comment which says "Off duty" for quickly setting yourself off duty. If you frequently need to adjust your logs due to weather, you can set a custom comment that says "Weather delays." Once set, these comments are available to pick on note fields where appropriate.

Custom comments are saved per driver per tablet. If you move to another vehicle, or if your vehicle receives a new tablet, the comments do not carry over and will need to be re-entered.

The Custom Comments screen lets you set the messages you'd like to use. You may add, change, or delete preset messages at any time.

Tap on a line to edit the text.

If you want to just delete an entry, tap the X next to the line to clear it.

Tap Save when finished.

Using Custom Comments

When a ZLogs window offers a note or comment field and you have at least one custom comment, tapping the field will display the list of comments available. Select one to fill the note field with it, or start typing on the keyboard to enter a different comment.

This list does not display if:

• No custom comments are set;
• Anything else is typed in the field.
