Q: If I have compliance questions, how do I reach out to your compliance experts?
There are a couple ways to reach out to our compliance team:
- Send a direct email to compliance@zonarsystems.com.
- Visit https://www.zonarsystems.com > Select the Safety & Compliance tab > Talk to a Compliance Expert.
Q: How detailed do annotations need to be when manually changing a duty status?
Annotations illustrate what did or did not happen, or even what should have happened. An example of a good annotation can be “Forgot to log Off duty”. Always keep in mind that annotations are sent to officers during a roadside inspection.
Q: If a driver has forgotten their credentials to log into the Zonar tablet, how can I find that information on Ground Traffic Control®?
In Ground Traffic Control, select Manage > Drivers to see a complete list of drivers in the fleet. From there, you can search for the driver and view their Tag ID and PIN.
Q: If a driver stops and powers off their vehicle, will they automatically be put into "On duty not driving" or "Off duty"? How long will it take for that duty status to switch?
If they still remain logged into their tablet, Zonar Logs™ will place the driver into "On duty not driving" after six minutes. After five minutes, a driver receives the prompt, “Do you want to remain in your current status or switch duty status.” If a driver does not select either option, then they will be place in "On duty not driving" on the sixth minute.
Zonar Logs will never automatically place a driver in "Off duty" per the FMCSA regulations. This is not configurable.
Q: If a driver accidentally leaves himself "On duty not driving" or in "Drive", can they take themselves Off duty on Driver Dashboard with their mobile device?
Yes, every driver can take themselves Off or On duty not driving through the Driver Dashboard from any web browser.
Q: At what speed does the ELD kick a driver into drive?
Zonar Logs is configured to automatically switch a driver into Drive status once the vehicle is in motion and reaches a speed of 4.5 mph.
Q: What is the difference between the Update Duty Status tab and the Add Log Event?
Update Duty Status: Used when a driver needs to update their duty status in real time.
Add Log Event: Used when a driver needs to add an historical log event.
Q: Why don’t all my drivers show up on the Live Status map?
The Live Status map on Compliance Dashboard displays drivers who are currently logged into Zonar tablets. If a driver is not logged into a Zonar tablet, they will not appear on the live map.
Q: How does the driver export logs to an officer's email from the tablet?
A driver does not export their logs to an officer’s direct email. Instead, they are given two options when clicking on the Export button inside the Roadside View™ tab.
- Web Service: Highly recommended. A hardcoded endpoint the officers use on their computers to download the log file.
- Email: A hardcoded email box officers go to in order to download the log file.
Q: If a driver mistakenly accepts an unidentified move that puts them in violation, the driver can make an annotation, but the log still shows the driver is in violation throughout shift. Is there a work around for this?
A new version of Zonar Logs will give the drivers the option to un-assign unidentified drive time if they accidentally accepted it previously.
Q: Does a driver's log follow them when they change vehicles?
Yes. Zonar products are all connected to our servers, which allows drivers to log into any tablet to access their data.
Q: Is there an extra cost to access the Driver Dashboard?
Driver Dashboard is a free feature. If it is not active for your account and you would like this feature, please give Zonar Customer Support a call or email and they will activate your account within 24 hours.
Q: What is the recommended sequence to log in and out?
To avoid ELD Active Malfunctions, the recommended sequences drivers should take are:
Start of day or entering vehicle
- Log into the Zonar tablet.
- Power on the vehicle.
End of day or exiting vehicle
- Power off vehicle.
- Log out of the Zonar tablet.
Q: What is the URL that drivers or operators need to use to access Driver Dashboard?
URL: https://operators.zonarsystems.net
To login, drivers need an email associated to their driver profile in Ground Traffic Control.
