Introduction
The Maintenance Overview provides at-a-glance information on issues your vehicles are currently experiencing, to help you make efficient and accurate decisions in fleet management. Currently, the overview offers insight into:
- JBus fault codes (J1939/1708/1587)
- OBD-II fault codes
- Low battery alerts
Accessing Maintenance Overview
There are two ways to access Maintenance Overview:
- Click this link to go directly to Maintenance Overview.
- When viewing Maps, click the Maintenance link on the left sidebar.
Views
The Maintenance portal offers three ways to view your fleet health. Click on a tab to load that view:
- Asset Summary aggregates all reported events by asset. This provides a quick and easy way to check the health of an individual asset.
- Issue View aggregates all reported events with the same fault code by the same asset into a single issue. This provides a quick and easy way to see, for example, that asset 1234 has reported low voltage to the brake system 15 times in the past week.
- Event View displays detailed information about each individual event, providing a quick and easy way to drill down into the information about a given fault code.
Each view separates events and issues into two severity levels: Critical and Minor.
Critical and Minor Events
Critical
These maintenance events generally mean that an asset should not be operated until the issue has been repaired or inactivated. The criteria for a critical event vary depending on the source:
-
- Fault codes that would trigger a Stop Engine light
- Low battery alerts under 11.25v
Minor
These maintenance events generally mean that an asset is okay to operate but could be an indicator of a future problem. Always check with your maintenance provider for the most accurate interpretation. The criteria for a minor event vary depending on the source:
-
- Fault codes that would trigger a Check Engine light or MIL
- Low battery alerts under 11.50v but over 11.25v
Low battery alerts are not available with the LD TCU.
Asset Summary
The Asset Summary displays a summarization of fault events by asset.
- Filters: Select individual filters to narrow the list to only desired events. See Filters for more details.
- Critical and Minor issues: Displays the total assets with critical and minor issues in the filtered list. An asset is counted as Critical if it has at least one Critical issue, and Minor if it has at least one Minor issue but no Critical issues. See Critical and Minor events for more details.
- Average issues per asset: Displays the total number of issues divided by the total number of assets. Only counts assets and issues filtered by the above selections.
- Asset with the most issues: Displays the asset with the highest number of issues within the assets filtered by the above selections, with the number of issues in parentheses. Click the asset name to open the Event View report filtered to that asset, or click the number of issues to open the Issue View report filtered to that asset. Click the info icon to pop up the asset details.
- Asset health: Displays the list of assets filtered by the above selections, with the total number of assets in parentheses. See Asset Health for more details.
Filters
-
Date Range: Click to define the range of time issues should filter to. Defaults to previous 7 days. Available options:
- Today
- Previous 7 days
- Previous 14 days
- Previous 30 days
- Previous 365 days
- Custom: Click the starting date on the calendar, then click the ending date to define your desired date range.
-
Asset: Click to select one or more assets in your account, or select subdivisions to select all assets in those subdivisions. The issues list will filter to only issues from those assets. Defaults to all assets.
In addition to the filters, assets must meet the following requirements to appear in Maintenance:- The asset must be marked Active in Ground Traffic Control.
- The TCU must be connected to the vehicle's ECU so that it is able to read fault data.
- The asset must have at least one fault reported.
- Asset Properties: Click to select one or more asset properties. The list will filter to only assets matching the selected properties. Defaults to all properties.
- Severity: Click to select either Critical or Minor issues only. Defaults to both severities.
- Category: Click to select one or more categories. The issues list will filter to only issues from those categories. Defaults to all categories.
- Source: Click to select either GPS Fault Event or Zonar TCU. Defaults to both sources.
- Reset Filters: Click to reset all changed filters back to default. This is grayed out if all filters are already default.
Asset Health
- Asset: The name of the asset the issue generated from, as defined in Ground Traffic Control. Only assets marked as Active in Ground Traffic Control appear. Click the asset name to open the Issue View report filtered to the asset, or click the info icon to pop up the asset details.
-
Health: The displayed icon represents the severity of the most severe issue the asset has:
- Critical
- Minor
- Issues: Displays the total number of issues reported by the asset. Click to open the Issue View report filtered to the asset.
- Earliest Date (MM/DD/YYYY): Displays the earliest date any issue appeared on the asset.
- Latest Date (MM/DD/YYYY): Displays the most recent date any issue appeared on the asset.
- Home Location: The location the asset is assigned to, as defined in Ground Traffic Control.
- VIN: The VIN of the asset, as read from the vehicle ECM. May be blank if VIN is not readable.
Issue View
The Issue View displays recurring issues reported by the vehicle and telematics control unit (TCU).
An issue may comprise multiple individual events; if the same vehicle reports the same fault code at a different time, it is considered part of the same issue. For example, if asset 1234 reports low voltage to the brake system 15 times over the past week, the Maintenance portal counts that as 15 events but only one issue. To see individual events, click Event View.
- Filters: Select individual filters to narrow the list to only desired events. See Filters for more details.
- Critical and Minor issues: Displays the total critical and minor issues in the filtered list. See Critical and Minor events for more details.
- Issues by category: Displays the total issues in the top five (5) categories. Click on a category to filter the list to only issues in that category.
- Issues: Displays the list of issues filtered by the above selections. See Issues for more details.
- Export CSV: Click to download a ZIP file containing a CSV of the Issues list. All columns are the same as shown on the web portal, except that Severity is 1 for Critical and 2 for Minor.
