The Zonar Coach dashboard allows administrators, trainers, and dispatchers to view and evaluate recorded trips taken by drivers. Driving behavior for each driver is presented in an at-a-glance view to provide a simple comparison dashboard. Video or images of incidents that occurred during a trip are viewed from a driver and trip list, and indicated on a map. This information can be used to reinforce expected driver behavior.

Associating Cameras with Vehicles
Each camera is identified by an IMEI number (found on the back of the camera). The IMEIs are entered into the Zonar Coach system by the Zonar Implementations team. A camera is "linked" to a vehicle when the IMEI is associated with the vehicle Asset number.
A driver or installer associates the camera with a vehicle in the RideView Companion app on their phone. The driver profile must first be created in the desktop application.
Before associating a camera with a vehicle an installer must sign into the Zonar Coach Installer app.
Steps for associating a camera with a vehicle.
Coaching Drivers
Regularly reviewing safety and driving events with drivers ensures that driving behavior falls in line with your fleet safety standards. There are multiple methods to collect and organize driving events to discuss with drivers.
Coaching Workflow
Configure automatic event thresholds on the Coaching Configurations page that will create Coaching sessions for each driver that cross those thresholds. A list of coaching sessions organized by driver is posted on the Coaching page.
See Coaching Configurations to set up Coaching Thresholds.
Safety Event Review
Determine opportunities to coach your drivers by reviewing individual trip details cards on the Safety Events page. Review events that have been recorded and click Select for Coaching. That event is tagged as a Coachable event and then listed in the Coaching Panel on the Drivers page.
See Select for Coaching in Safety Events to tag events as coachable.
See Coaching Panel in Drivers to review events tagged as coachable.
Challenges
When using the RideView Companion app, drivers can review recorded safety event videos and challenge them in the app. The challenged events are listed in the Challenged Events panel on the Challenges page. This list allows you to discuss the events and review your fleet safety standards together.
See Challenged Events panel on the Challenges page.
Driver App Voice Notifications
During the course of a trip, drivers using the mobile app are notified by audio announcement when a Safety Event violation has been detected. This voice notification acts as an in-cab coach to make the driver aware of their behavior in near real time.
On-Demand Video
The DashCam captures video for the entire duration of a trip. Short clips can be accessed after a trip has concluded. You can request a video clip anywhere along the trip path to review, including video outside of Safety Events.
Video Requests are made from the Trips List on the Trips page. Standard video clips of 1, 2, and 3 minute durations and time-lapse video of 5, 10, and 15 minute durations can be requested at any point on the Trip Timeline.
Steps for requesting video.
Once a request has been made, the requested clip is listed on the Video Requests page
Three categories of requests are shown:
- Video Request - On-demand video requests of specified durations
- Panic Button - Instances of the on-camera panic button pressed by drivers
- Event On-Demand - HD video for specific events
Steps for reviewing Video Requests.

Select the date range and pre-determined tags to filter the information on the page. Tags include drivers and asset location.
Statistics
High-level statistics about your fleet trips display along the top of the Home page. They provide a quick glance at overall activity.
- Trips: Number of trips taken within the selected date range. A trip is defined as time between a key on and key off of a vehicle.
- Distance: Total number of miles/kilometers travelled during the selected date range.
- Events Per 100 Miles: Average number of events captured by the camera for every 100 miles traveled during the selected date range.
- Duration: Total number of hours spent during all of the trips during the selected date range.
Recommended Events
Recommended events are a sorted list (in descending order) of events based on severity. Each event has an associated severity metric (for example, for speed limit violations it is the difference of the vehicle speed and the posted limit).
When "All Events" is selected, recommendations across all categories are shown. When a particular event type is selected, events from only that category are shown.
Top Drivers
This section shows the list of best performing drivers - ones with the fewest violations. Can form the basis for driver reward programs.

Coaching
Coaching thresholds are the parameters that you set for your fleet to initiate periodic Coaching Sessions. You determine and set which events are eligible for coaching sessions, the number of events that trigger eligibility for a coaching session, and the duration of time between sessions.
Enter the threshold parameters and click Submit.
Events Per 100 Miles
Minimum number of events per 100 miles within the selected duration, beyond which a driver is eligible for coaching. Enter a number between 1 and 1000 events. This threshold is more sensitive when the value is smaller.
Coaching Interval
Number of days since the previous session after which a new coaching session can occur. This threshold is not applied to drivers who have never been coached. Enter a value between 1 and 180 days.
Minimum Event Threshold
Minimum number of events marked for coaching, beyond which a driver is eligible for coaching. Events from the last 6 months will be considered for drivers who have never been coached. Enter a value between 1 and 1000 events. This threshold is more sensitive when the value is smaller.

Tagging
Tagging allows you to manage and group data by location,
business type, assets and other types of data.
You can use location tags to efficiently group your
fleet data into region specific grouping and also
use it for access control. For example, a trucking
company can tag their truck based on states like
New York or Ohio, or based on cities such as Chicago,
Houston etc. You can also assign tag to users so
that they can only view data from assets that belong
under that tag.
View list of all tags with an option to edit, activate/deactivate etc.
Attributes
Attributes are like a logical group of tags you will be creating. For example, you can have Location as an attribute and under that you can create North, South, East and West as tags.
Attributes can be categorized into two types:
- Access-Based. These attributes are utilized to generate tags that control user access.
- Data-Based. These attributes are employed for tags used in filtering tasks.
Creating an Attribute
- On the Configurations page, click the Tagging tab.
- Select "Attributes" from the drop-down menu.
- Click Add New Attribute.
- Select the type of attribute (data-based or access-based).
- Select the entity or entities to which the attributes will apply (Asset, Driver, Event, or Trip).
- Enter the name for the attribute.
- (Optional) Enter a brief description of the attribute.
- Click Save Details to add the Attribute.
Tags
Tags are custom keywords you can create based on your fleet that will help you to assign these keywords to trips, assets, incidents etc. For example, you can assign North tag to any asset to specify its location. Tags must be associated with an Attribute.
Creating a Tag
- On the Configurations page, click the Tagging tab.
- Select "Tags" from the drop-down menu.
- Click Add New Tag.
- Select an attribute from the drop-down menu.
- Enter the tag name in the Tags field, pressing Enter after each word.
- Click Save Details to add the tag.
Entities
Entities are fixed set of objects which can be physical or virtual in nature. For example, you can assign a location tag North to entities such as Driver or Assets. You cannot add or edit entities, but you can assign attributes to the set of entities.
Edit Entities (Assign Attributes to Entities)
- On the Configurations page, click the Tagging tab.
- Select "Entities" from the drop-down menu.
- Click the Edit Entity icon next to the entity in the Entities list.
- Select an attribute from the drop-down menu. Assign any attributes to the selected entity, based on which the tags associated with this attribute will be shown for filtering and access control specific to each entity
