The Alert tool allows for several types of alerts. When creating an alert in Alert Management, choose from one of the following types.
Diagnostic Code
Sends an alert when the vehicle ECM generates a fault code. The alert includes the fault code as well as descriptive information. Choose one of two categories to receive alerts on:
- Stop Engine Lights
- Stop, Check Engine, and MIL Lights
Driver Request (Panic Button)
Driver initiated request to record current events:
- Generates Z Alert when button is pressed
Drowsy Driving
A camera has detected the driver is drowsy.
This alert requires an internal facing camera
EVIR Defect
An EVIR defect was logged. Choose severity threshold
- Critical Events - Major defects only
- Minor + Critical Events - Major and minor defects
Emissions Check
Threshold options:
- Critical Events - Asset is 7 days from their compliance deadline and not compliant
- Minor + Critical Events - Asset is 30 days from their compliance deadline and not compliant
Optional alerts
- Send an alert when an asset is no longer compliant
- Send an alert when a scan fails compliance check
- Send an alert when a scan errors
State of Charge (Electric Vehicle)
Sends an alert when an electric vehicle's (EV) battery drops below a certain level. Choose one of two thresholds:
- When stage of charge goes below 20 percent
- When stage of charge goes below 30 percent

Equipment Battery Level
Sends an alert when the TCU detects that the vehicle battery has dropped below a certain threshold. Choose one of two thresholds:
- Battery below 11.50 volts
- Battery below 11.75 volts
High-G Event
Acceleration data indicates a collision may have happened
This alert requires a Zonar Dashcam
Idle
Asset has idled beyond company set threshold:
- Critical idle
Missing Pre-Trip Inspection
Required pre-trip inspection was not performed.
Posted Speed
Speeding event detected above the posted speed limit and company threshold setting:
- Critical Events - Asset was speeding with critical severity over the posted speed limit and company threshold
- Minor + Critical Events - Asset was speeding with minor or critical severity over the posted limit and company threshold
Rollover Detection
Acceleration data indicates a rollover event may have happened
This alert requires a Zonar Dashcam
Unauthorized Vehicle Movement
Sends an alert when the TCU detects that the vehicle has moved a certain distance.
This alert will always trigger when the selected vehicles have moved unless you add a custom schedule (see Alert Management for more information).
There is only one threshold required for this alert:

Alert after asset has driven # miles:
- Set to 0 to send an alert as soon as the vehicle powers up.
- Set to 1-9 to send an alert after that many miles. The maximum number of miles you can set is 9.
Compatible TCU Models
- V4 family
- Zonar LD
- V3 family (with 4G converter installed)
Assets tracked by Ztrak are not compatible with this alert.
