The Usage report provides a high-level overview of how much time and fuel your fleet has spent in active usage in a given time period, with the ability to drill down to individual vehicles and occurrences. This article details the functions and data available on the Usage report.
Data Integrity
The fleet summary information in this report is based on trips which meet a certain level of data integrity. Rarely, GPS data points may return unusual location or odometer data which can result in the following impossible trip scenarios:
- The odometer value reads 0 at the start or end of the trip.
- The odometer value at the end of the trip is less than the value at the start of the trip.
- The duration of the trip is a negative value.
- The duration of the trip is abnormally long (a week or more).
- The average speed recorded for the trip is abnormally high (over 120 mph or 53.6 meters/second).
These unusual trips could interfere with the accuracy of the fleet summary info, and so are excluded.
These excluded trips are still visible in the Usage Events table under Event View. Additionally, the CSV export for Usage Events displays whether or not the trip event contains erroneous data.
Overview
- View: Click to select between Asset View and Event View. This primarily controls the details at the bottom of the report. See Asset View and Event View for more information.
- Filters: Click to filter the reported data by date, location or asset, or manufacturer. See Filters for more information.
- Summary: Displays a high-level report for the fleet, restricted by any filters provided. See Summary for more information.
- Usage Trend: Displays a graph showing aggregate fleet usage per day. See Usage Trend for more information.
- Fuel Usage Trend: Displays a graph showing aggregate fleet fuel usage per day. See Fuel Usage Trend for more information.
- Assets Used/Usage Events: Displays detailed information about individual assets if Asset View is selected or individual events if Event View is selected.
Filters
The provided filters allow you to restrict the data to a certain time period or group of assets so that you can quickly review pertinent information.
-
Date Range: Click to define the range of time issues should filter to. Defaults to previous 7 days. Available options:
- Today
- Previous 7 days
- Previous 14 days
- Previous 30 days
- Previous 365 days
- Custom: Click the starting date on the calendar, then click the ending date to define your desired date range.
- Asset: Click to filter the assets used in the report. The assets are sorted by location and account, if your user profile has permission to view multiple accounts. You may select one or multiple specific assets, locations, or accounts. Defaults to all visible assets.
- Manufacturer: Click to select one or more asset year/make/model. The issues list will filter to only issues from those selected models. This list is populated by VINs collected from the selected range of assets. Defaults to all available manufacturers.
Summary
The summaries shown here provide high-level information about your fleet's time and fuel usage at a glance.
- Total Miles Driven: The total miles driven by all selected assets within the selected date range.
- Avg Miles (per day): The average number of miles driven per day per asset. This number is calculated by dividing Total Miles Driven by total selected assets (used and unused), then dividing by the number of days in the selected date range (Previous 7 Days includes the current day for a total of 8).
- Total Engine Hour: The total engine hours accumulated by all selected assets within the selected date range.
- Avg Hours Used (per day): The average number of engine hours accumulated per day per asset. This number is calculated by dividing Total Engine Hour by total selected assets (used and unused), then dividing by the number of days in the selected date range (Previous 7 Days includes the current day for a total of 8).
- Fuel Efficiency: The average miles per gallon of all selected assets used within the selected date range. Calculated by dividing Total Miles Driven by Total Fuel Used.
-
Total Fuel Used: The total amount of fuel used by all selected assets used within the selected date range.
Fuel Efficiency and Total Fuel Used can only be calculated for assets that report engine data and if the account has Zfuel service.
- Assets Used: The total number of selected assets that have recorded data during the selected date range.
-
Unused Assets: The total number of selected assets that do not have recorded data during the selected date range. Click to view a report of which assets were not used.
Usage Trend
The Usage Trend displays the average usage per day for the total selected assets across the specified date range in a line graph.
The graph displays either average miles traveled or average engine hours. Select your preferred data with the dropdown in the upper right.
Hover your cursor over a point on the graph to display the date, average miles or engine hours for that day, and total assets contributing to the average usage.
Fuel Usage Trend
The Fuel Usage Trend displays the average fuel usage per day for the total selected assets across the specified date range in a line graph.
The graph displays either average fuel efficiency in miles per gallon or average fuel used in gallons. Select your preferred data with the dropdown in the upper right.
Hover your cursor over a point on the graph to display the date, average MPG or gallons for that day, and total assets contributing to the average usage.
Asset View
Assets Used
The Assets Used table displays all selected assets which recorded at least one trip during the selected date range. Usage events are aggregated by asset, allowing you to see the total usage for any given asset.
- Asset: Displays the name of the asset as defined in Manage Assets.
- Latest Date: Displays the time and date of the last usage event from the asset.
- Total Trip Start: Displays how many times the asset recorded an Engine On event in the filtered date range. Click the number to display the Event View filtered to that specific asset.
- Manufacturer: Displays the make of the asset if known.
- Total Engine Hours: Displays the total engine hours across all usage events.
- Total Miles: Displays the total miles across all usage events.
- Ending Hour Meter: Displays the total recorded hours for the asset.
- Location: Displays the asset's home location as defined in Manage Assets.
- Odo (Mi): Displays the asset's reported odometer in miles.
- Fuel Efficiency (MPG): Displays the asset's miles per gallon during the date range.
- Total Fuel (Gal): Displays the total fuel used in gallons during the date range.
- VIN: Displays the VIN of the asset if known.
Fuel Efficiency and Total Fuel are only available if Zfuel service is enabled and Zonar receives engine data from the asset.
