Introduction
This article covers the process of replacing the Gamber-Johnson dock with a RAM dock. This process takes an average of 30 minutes to complete.
Time to complete and locations of hardware may differ from these instructions due to the specific vehicle being worked on.

Removing Gamber-Johnson Dock
- Remove RAM ball from back of Gamber-Johnson dock, set aside. You will use different screws when reattaching to RAM dock.
- Unplug 2-Pin power cable from tablet serial cable. Possible location could be behind the dash in wire cluster on the left.
Unplug USB cable from side of Gamber-Johnson dock.
You will have 2 cables at the end of this step.
- USB cable.
- 2-Pin power cable.
Installing RAM Dock
Attach RAM ball to the back of the RAM dock.
Use the new screws and nuts shipped in the kit.
- Attach the 2-Pin fuse holder to the tablet serial cable.
Attach the power bank to the other side of the inline fuse, and the power bank to the USB/micro extension cable.
Use the provided Zip ties and USB clamps to ensure connections are secure.
- Attach micro USB cable to the RAM dock micro USB cable.
Plug the tablet USB cable into the USB port on the RAM dock.
All connections are now made.
Connection Check
Now that the swap is complete, make sure all USB locks are properly installed and use the provided ZIP ties. Below is what the completed process should look like.
