You can manage rest periods in a flexible way with the Split Sleeper Berth rule.
- Total Rest Time: You need to take a total of 10 hours of rest, but you can split this into two separate periods.
- Two Options: You can split your rest time in one of two ways:
- 8/2 Split: One period of at least 8 hours in the sleeper berth and another period of at least 2 hours off-duty (this can be in or out of the sleeper berth).
- 7/3 Split: One period of at least 7 hours in the sleeper berth and another period of at least 3 hours off-duty (this can be in or out of the sleeper berth).
- Combining Periods: When you add these two periods together, they must total at least 10 hours.
- Shift Window: The time you spend resting in these periods doesn't count against your 14-hour driving window. This means you can extend your workday by splitting your rest periods.
So, if you take a 7-hour break in the sleeper berth and then a 3-hour break later, you still meet the 10-hour rest requirement. This flexibility can help you better manage your driving schedule.
To enable the Split Sleeper Berth rule in your logs, toggle the Apply SB Split feature in the Zonar Logs application on your tablet.
