Introduction
As part of our GPS tracking service, Zonar offers temporary increased logging in the event an asset requires recovery. Increased logging provides constant updates to the vehicle's location whether the engine is running or not. This logging occurs until the asset is recovered or declared lost.
The GPS unit installed on the asset must be in working condition. Zonar cannot track a GPS unit that has been removed from the asset or had its power disconnected. In such an event, the last known location will be provided.
The increased logging will take place when the GPS unit next phones home. For standard GPS units, this will be within the next 4 hours. For ZTrak units, it may be as long as 24 hours before the increased logging activates.
ZTrak units use an internal battery that is not connected to a vehicle's power source. Frequent pinging will put an increased load on the battery and shorten its lifespan. Notifying Zonar of the asset's recovery is crucial to prevent unnecessary power drain.
