J1979 OBD Direct Cable

The OBD Direct cable (part number 81735) can access J1979 engine data in light duty vehicles. This cable is compliant with the California Air Resource Board (CARB)-mandated Clean Truck Check Program (CTC).

This cable can be used with V4 GPS Units that have a firmware version of 4.8.137 or newer. 

If the V4 has a lower firmware version than 4.8.137 contact Zonar Customer Support for assistance.

Installation Instructions

  1. Verify that all LED lights on the V4 are off.
  2. With the vehicle engine off, plug in the OBD Direct connector.

  3. Plug the 10Pin data and 4Pin power cables into the V4 GPS Unit.

  4. Within two minutes of plugging the connector and pins in power on the vehicle's engine.
  5. Wait approximately 1 minute and verify on the V4 that:
    1. The STATUS LED is lit solid Green.
    2. The DATALINK1 LED is blinking Green.

Once confirmed, the installation is complete.
