The Usage report provides a high-level overview of how much time and fuel a fleet has spent in a given time period, with the ability to refine results to individual vehicles and occurrences.
At the top of the page users can select what type of usage data to review. Summary View provides vehicle-specific data and the Event View tracks individual trips taken by fleet vehicles.
Each view features filtering tools to help users refine the displayed data.
Data Integrity
The fleet summary information in this report is based on trips which meet a certain level of data integrity. Rarely, GPS data points may return unusual location or odometer data which can result in the following impossible trip scenarios:
- The odometer value reads 0 at the start or end of the trip.
- The odometer value at the end of the trip is less than the value at the start of the trip.
- The duration of the trip is a negative value.
- The duration of the trip is abnormally long (a week or more).
- The average speed recorded for the trip is abnormally high (over 120 mph or 53.6 meters/second).
These unusual trips could interfere with the accuracy of the fleet summary info, and so are excluded.
These excluded trips are still visible in the Usage Events table under Event View. Additionally, the CSV export for Usage Events displays whether or not the trip event contains erroneous data.
Summary View
The Summary View groups usage data based on the vehicles profiles that recorded it. This data is broken up into four different categories.
Summary
The Summary card displays high-level information about a fleet's time and fuel usage.
- Total Miles Driven: The total miles driven by all selected assets within the selected date range.
- Avg Hours Used (per day): The average number of engine hours accumulated per day per asset. This number is calculated by dividing Total Engine Hour by total selected assets (used and unused), then dividing by the number of days in the selected date range (Previous 7 Days includes the current day for a total of 8).
- Total Engine Hour: The total engine hours accumulated by all selected assets within the selected date range.
- Fuel Efficiency: The average miles per gallon of all selected assets used within the selected date range. This is calculated by dividing Total Miles Driven by Total Fuel Used.
- Total Fuel Used: The total amount of fuel used by all selected assets used within the selected date range. Fuel Efficiency and Total Fuel Used can only be calculated for assets that report engine data and if the account has Zfuel service.
- Assets Used: The total number of selected assets that have recorded data during the selected date range.
- Unused Assets: The total number of selected assets that do not have recorded data during the selected date range. Click to view a report of which assets were not used.
Usage Trend
The Usage Trend displays the average use per day for the total selected assets across the specified date range in a line graph.
The graph displays either average miles traveled or average engine hours. This can be adjusted with the drop menu in the top right corner of the card.
Hovering your cursor over a point on the graph will display the date, average miles or engine hours for that day, and total assets contributing to the average usage.
Fuel Usage Trend
The Fuel Usage Trend displays the average fuel usage per day for the total selected assets across the specified date range in a line graph.
The graph displays either average fuel efficiency in miles per gallon or average fuel used in gallons. This can be adjusted with the drop menu in the top right corner of the card.
Hovering your cursor over a point on the graph will display the date, average MPG or gallons for that day, and the total assets contributing to the average usage.
Assets Used
The Assets Used table displays all selected assets which recorded at least one trip during the selected date range. Usage events are aggregated by asset.
Columns can be enabled or disabled with the Show/Hide Column button.
Event View
The Event View groups usage data based on recorded vehicle trips.
Usage Events
The Usage Events table displays all individual recorded trips within the selected time frame for all selected assets.
A trip is defined as the recording between an Engine On event to an Engine Off event.
If the fleet is filtered to one or more assets it will show events for only those assets, such as if you click the Total Trip Start count for a specific asset in Asset View.
Columns can be toggled on and off with the icon.
