These Release Notes introduce and briefly explain what changes users can expect to see in the new updates to Unidentified Driving Logs (UDL) and Ground Traffic Control (GTC).
GTC has a new unresolved logs report named Unidentified Trips.
- This report introduces the concept of an unidentified driving log (UDL) trip to all driver managers (dispatchers/fleet managers).
- This report combines all of the core attributes that are used to identify the driver who is associated with the unidentified trip (for example, last known driver that logged in to the asset, and last action performed on the UDL).
To access the Unidentified Trips report, from the main menu click Reports, then go to Zonar Logs and click Unresolved Logs.
Last Action column has a new informational icon (highlighted above) that is presented when there are additional events within a trip. Click the icon to see a list of all the events within the trip along with the time they occurred, for example:
Important Features for the Unidentified Trips report:
- A Trip or a UDL trip has a definite start time and an end time.
- Last Known Driver is a new column that shows the last driver who was logged in to the asset prior to the start of the UDL.
- Last Action is a new column that shows the latest action on the UDL trip, for example: Driver was not logged into the device, Driver was either disconnected or not docked in, Driver does not have a rule-set assigned, Device does not have Zonar Logs.
- If a dispatcher assigns the UDL to a driver, Last Action gets updated to “Pending on <Driver Name>.”
- If the driver rejects the UDL, Last Action gets updated to “Rejected by <Driver Name>.”
- Dispatcher can assign the UDL to a driver or “NDE” (No Driver Reason)

These Release Notes introduce and briefly explain what changes users can expect to see in the new updates and feature enhancements to Ground Traffic Control (GTC).
New authentication method
- An email address and password is now required for user login and authentication. Each GTC user should have their own unique log in information in order to maintain individual user permissions and settings as well as the ability to receive reports that are set up to email users automatically.
- Users will not need to enter their account code (e.g. abc1234) any longer to gain access to GTC. If they have access to more than one account, then they can switch between accounts without having to log in again using the Switch Account feature*. This is located in the upper right corner of the web page by clicking on the User and Account Name.
*On initial launch, users cannot change the default account that they are directed to upon log in.
Home Page
- Users will see a new home page when they log in which has taken the place of the report icons. Zonar will be updating this page with helpful information to our users such as release notes for new GTC features, information regarding upcoming customer training sessions and new product announcements.
- Users still have quick access to their most used report pages by utilizing the Favorites section on the home page. Clicking the plus icon brings them to the report icon page. Icons can be dragged into the Favorites window to add the links.
- Favorites can also be accessed from any page on GTC by clicking on the Star icon on the header.
Navigation changes
- Report and site navigation have been moved to the top header bar. All previous reports and administration pages are available in this new menu structure.
- The available reports and pages in the menu reflect what each user has permission to use. These permissions are carried over from the existing GTC set up.
- The Dashboard feature has been removed from GTC. As part of continued platform enhancements, Zonar plans to improve upon this feature to make it more useful to our customers in the future.
- The User Settings page is now accessed by clicking on the User and Account Name at the upper right corner of the web page.
- Logout is located under the same drop down menu where the user and account name are located.
User Interface Changes
- GTC has updated the look and feel of the overall user interface. There may be some reports and pages, such as ZLogs, some Pupil pages and Custom reports, that have not been refreshed, so do not be concerned if older style pages appear. Functionality on all pages (in the new and old style) remains the same and users should not see significant changes in how they interact with the reports. The data and calculations for all of the existing reports have not changed with this update.
- The location of the report filter parameters has changed on some reports. Report filters are either at the top or on the right side of the web page. The filter panel can now also be hidden by clicking on the blue Filter button on the gray navigation bar. Once a report is run, some of the pages automatically hide the filter panel/parameters to dedicate screen real estate to the returned data. The filter parameters can be retrieved at any time by simply clicking the word Filter again.
Saved Filters
- A new feature has been added which allows users to save different filter parameter combinations for quick recall. This has been added to the Activity, Mileage and Mileage by State reports and will be expanded to new reports in the future.
- The Saved Filter feature is accessed in the filter parameter panel for each of these reports. Saved filter combinations are saved and managed on a per user, per report basis.
Report Subscriptions
- A new report subscription feature has been added that allows a user to set up a report to be run and emailed to them on a recurring basis. The first reports to have this feature are the Activity, Mileage and Mileage by State. This will be expanded to additional reports on an iterative basis.
- A subscription can be created by clicking on the clock icon in the upper navigation bar. To enable subscription capability for a report, the report must first be run with the filter applied.
- Users can see what reports they have created subscriptions to on the Subscriptions page in the Manage menu.
Help files and Export
- Help files for each report and web page are available by clicking on the help icon.
- Export functionality for each report can be accessed by clicking the arrow icon just to the left of the help file icon.
Access to legacy Ground Traffic Control
- If users are experiencing issues with the new site or cannot find a report or feature they need, they can access the legacy GTC site from the new home page under the Need Help?
- If users navigate to the legacy site through this link, they can return to the updated GTC site by clicking the Return to New GTC link in the upper right corner of the top legacy header.
- If users log out from the legacy site when they have completed their session, the next time they log in, they will be directed to log in to the legacy site. Once they do this, they must click the Return to New GTC link to return to the updated site.
